Soundium’s Design Tree: Supporting Multimedia Composition and Performance

چکیده
The multimedia platform SOUNDIUM features a high-level design editing component called design tree which collects and organises the artist’s work in an intuitive way. Design tree operations provide interactive high-level editing methods which allow for exploration, combination, reuse and evolution of designs before and particularly during a live multimedia performance. This paper gives a short overview of SOUNDIUM, and we will discuss the concept of the design tree in detail and present its realisation. In particular, we will examine how this novel concept can be be effectively employed by the media artist at various stages during multimedia composition and performance.
